How it got made
Where it started
Luke's dorm-room studio, in college. POLYESTER came out of trial and error: over a hundred demos, and eight made the final cut. The goal was the sound of pastel pink.
What changed
At first the songs came out too bright. The room had no treatment and poor acoustics, so Luke put foam treatment on the walls. Every vocal had to be redone from scratch.
The mix
Luke met Michael, one of his early mentors, who had an ear for POLYESTER's style of production. Listening over Michael's shoulder is how Luke learned to mix the albums that followed. The record blew past its deadlines several times before Luke considered it ready. The result is a record made with love.
